Topnotch Resort & Spa
Just five miles from historic Stowe village, this picture-perfect property covers 120 untarnished acres in the heart of northern Vermont's pine-lined Green Mountains.

With its six outdoor and four indoor hard courts, the resort's Tennis Center is one of only a handful in New England to run a year-round program. A staff of USPTA- and PTR-certified pros offer private instruction, daily clinics, Dartfish video analysis and game-matching for all levels of player; the Center also hosts singles, doubles and mixed-doubles round robins and twice-weekly exhibition games. From May through October, an intensive Tennis Academy includes small-group workouts, strategy-development sessions, and three- or five-hour daily drills.
Off the Court
The resort's 35,000-square-foot spa offers more than 120 body-soothing treatments, from massages to wraps. Guests more interested in exerting their muscles participate in activities including swimming, horseback riding, in-line skating, cross-country skiing, aerobics and weight training, or hiking and biking on the nearby Stowe Recreational Path. An added bonus, Topnotch's on-staff sports psychologists conduct seminars on topics such as stress-regulation, burnout recognition, and visualization techniques.
Accommodations and Dining
In both its 92-room inn and its 25 one-, two-, and three-bedroom townhouse-condos, each Topnotch guest room features antique furnishings and European country manor-style decor. Several on-property restaurants include Maxwell's at Topnotch, which serves regional specialties and a selection of low-calorie, low-cholesterol spa cuisine. Also open year-round is the Buttertub Bistro, for New American fare served beside a crackling fire. Afternoons, guests indulge in complimentary tea and cookies with a Mt. Mansfield view in the inn's cozy Living Room lounge.
Tennis packages include accommodations, breakfasts, morning stretching sessions, unlimited court time, one-hour daily private lesson, use of the ball machine, and access to the fitness center and spa.
