The Inn at Essex
Known for his catlike reflexes and on-court grace, it is no surprise Mats Wilander broke numerous records during his professional tennis career. In 1982, he was the youngest player to win the French Open (17 years, 9 months) until Michael Chang (17 years, 3 months) won Roland Garros in 1989. He was the only man to hold four Grand Slam titles before the age of 21. In 1988, Wilander ended Ivan Lendl's No.1 reign (Lendl was No. 1 for 157 consecutive weeks). He ended his career as a seven-time Grand Slam singles champion and collected 33 career singles titles. In recent years, Wilander has worked with Marat Safin and is currently the coach of Sweden's Davis Cup team.

Mikael Pernfors has made his peace with his former nemesis, Mats Wilander. The last time these two Swedes met on the pro circuit was the 1993 U.S. Open when Wilander defeated Pernfors in a marathon five-set match (7-6 3-6 1-6 7-6 6-4) that ended after 2 a.m. This former top 10 player is best known for his crowd-pleasing game full of variety.

Join Wilander and Pernfors for a weekend at the Inn at Essex in Essex, VT., nestled in the panoramic Green Mountains. Your weekend begins with a cocktail reception and dinner Friday night. Saturday features five hours of tennis instruction, followed by another reception and dinner. Round-robin play, relaxing Sunday brunch and an entertaining exhibition singles match with Wilander and Pernfors complete your tennis weekend.

Beyond the baseline, savor a full dinning extravaganza as the Inn at Essex serves as a campus for the New England Culinary Institute.
