 Amanda & Stacy Darling Memorial Tennis Center 
An exquisite new city-owned tennis complex on the west side of town offering public access to 23 outdoor lighted courts, plus a full program of lessons, clinics and tournaments. Facilities include locker rooms, a pro shop and a stadium court with seating for up to 3,500 spectators. Court time is charged per person at $2.50 to $3.50 an hour, with discounted youth and senior rates and limited free hours for walk-up players. Open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Located off Summerlin Parkway about 9 miles west of downtown and 20 minutes or so by car from the Las Vegas Strip.

 Lorenzi Park 
This 60-acre city park just west of downtown Las Vegas has eight lighted courts, with an ongoing schedule of clinics, mixers and other activities. The Lorenzi Park tennis facility at 3075 W. Washington Ave. (west of North Rancho Drive) is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., weekends until 7 p.m. The court fee is $5 per hour, and advance reservations are accepted but not required.

 Sunset Park 
Eight lighted courts are available at this county-owned park just east of the airport, a good place to play if you don’t mind the distraction of low-flying jets roaring overhead. The courts are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. with an hourly charge of $5 for daytime play, $7 during the evening hours. Advance reservations may be made in person at the parks department office behind the courts at 2601 E. Sunset Road (between Pecos Road and Eastern Avenue).

 Bob Baskin Park 
Local players in search of a casual singles or doubles pickup game congregate at this small park in a quiet residential area west of Interstate 15, just a few miles from the big casino hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. The park has four free outdoor courts with coin-operated lights and a practice wall, plus a jogging track, picnic facilities and restrooms. Reservations are not taken, so come prepared to wait for a turn on these convivial municipal courts. The courts are open to players every day from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. when the lights stop working. Enter the parking lot from West Oakey Boulevard, a few blocks west of Rancho Drive.
