 When to Go
Unless you're going to attend the US Open, summer is generally the worst time to visit New York, with frequently hot, muggy weather enveloping the city in July and August. For the best chance of good weather, plan to visit in spring or fall, when rain is possible, but moderate temperatures prevail. The winter months tend to be cold and damp, though the city offers plenty of indoor activities and attractions, along with a particularly festive holiday season from the Macy's Thanksgiving parade through Christmas and New Year's.
