 Beverly Garland's Holiday Inn  
The namesake hotel of veteran film and television actress Beverly Garland is geared for visitors to the Universal Studios theme park. The hotel has 255 family-friendly rooms on a 7-acre property in North Hollywood with a variety of recreational amenities, including two outdoor tennis courts. Rates range from about $120 to $220 per night, with AAA and AARP discounts available, and various package deals that combine lodging with Universal Studios tickets. Kids stay and eat free up to age 12.

 Beverly Hills Hotel and Bungalows  
This legendary Tinseltown hideaway on Sunset Boulevard harbors a pair of outdoor courts and its own resident tennis pro, 1959 Wimbledon champ Alex Olmedo. The lushly landscaped property offers a choice of luxurious rooms, suites and bungalows, along with three restaurants, a large pool, a La Prairie spa and a singular opportunity to bed down on hallowed ground once frequented by the likes of Katharine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe. Rack rates range from $440 for the most affordable doubles to four-figure price tags for the swankiest suites and bungalows.

 Le Montrose Suite Hotel  
The rooftop tennis-court-with-a-view is not the only good reason to book a stay at this 133-unit all-suite hotel in West Hollywood. The converted apartment building in a residential area right off the Sunset Strip offers spacious accommodations along with a heated outdoor pool, a new fitness center and a restaurant open only to residents and their invited guests. An extreme makeover completed in 2005 brought stylish upgrades to the lobby, suites and rooftop recreational facilities. Normal rates fall in the $200 to $300 range, with some appealing discounts and package rates available.

 Le Parc Suite Hotel  
Comfortable accommodations and a terrific location on a quiet residential street in West Hollywood make this 154-unit all-suite hotel a good choice for business and leisure travelers alike. The rooftop recreation area is equipped with a lighted tennis court, swimming pool and sundeck with views of the Hollywood Hills. Studio and one-bedroom suites in various configurations are available, all with private balconies and kitchenettes. Rates average around $250 a night, with packages available that include breakfast and parking.
