World TeamTennis on Tennis Channel

When you think of tailgating in the parking lot, fans sporting their home team colors, and loud cheering, World TeamTennis (WTT) will soon come to mind. WTT is tennis as you have never seen it, and a sporting event not be missed.

WTT started in 1974 when Billie Jean King's dream to incorporate a co-ed league and professional tennis came true. For the first time fans were allowed to get involved in John McEnroe.the extreme tennis and intense rivalries on the court. Players sported loud colorful uniforms and wore microphones on court. Cheering, yelling, and screaming fans replaced polite and subdued spectator applause. Watch all of these trailblazing traditions continue this season during Tennis Channel's coverage of the Tour.

Keep an eye open for the high octane tennis, music and intimate venues that WTT delivers, while they go against tradition allowing player substitutions during matches, on court coaching and a fan friendly scoring system (no-ad) is used. In place of using the time-honored love-15-30-40 a more simple scoring system of 0-1-2-3 is used. When a game is tied at 3-3, a sudden death point decides the winner. Teams consist of two men and two women. Matches consist of five sets: men's and women's singles doubles, plus mixed doubles. Scores for the five sets are added and the team with the most points wins the match. WTT is a Grand Slam event rolled into one night of fun.

This year marks the 37th year of WTT and looks to be its most exciting season to date.
