IBF Badminton

Badminton is one of the world's fastest racquet sports. Speeds of the shuttlecock being hit have been timed at over 200 mph during top international competition. The sport is played all over the world, with its biggest following in Indonesia, China, Korea, Malaysia and several European countries.

The modern sport of badminton began in India during the 1860s. The game was then adopted by the English and became popular throughout Europe. Today the sport is played worldwide, and included in the Olympics since 1992.

The International Badminton Federation (IBF) is the world governing body of the sport, and sanctions the World Grand Prix Tour. Tournaments are held all over the world, featuring the top professional men and women players in singles, doubles, and mixed events. Players compete for prize money and ranking points. In addition to the tour events there are three significant team competitions that are held annually, the Thomas Cup (men), the Uber cup (women) and the Sudirman Cup (mixed competition).
