She's made the quarterfinals of every Grand Slam,
including twice here at the US Open. She's won seven
singles titles and 12 doubles titles, rocked Fed Cup against the US and has been as high as #3 in the world. Her crowning achievement - sitting down with me for 7 Stupid Questions.
"Seven stupid questions? Do I even have to waste my time answering them?"
That's one simple question. But I'm in charge here.
#1: James: Dmitry Tursunov puts on your shirt in Hopman Cup.(laughs) Do you afterwards launder it, burn it..? What do you do with it?
Nadia: "Of course I launder it, and I've been using it in practice since after that."
James: He must've stretched it out bad.
Nadia: "No no, he's not that big."
James:Your father threw hammers.
Nadia: "Yeah."
#2: James: How far do you think he could throw me?
Nadia: "Oh God."
James: I'm like 180.
Nadia: "180. Uh...I don't know, 20 feet?" (laughs)
#3: James: The players on the WTA site, their photos all look like mug shots, but you somehow have a glamour shot. What did you do right that these other girls are doing wrong?
Nadia: "Have a photo session."
James So put on make-up.
Nadia: "Exactly."
#4: James: Your first doubles opponents are Shahar Peer and Tathiana Garbin. Feel like trash talking?
Nadia: "Not at all. They could be tough."
James: Ugh. Too straight. Too easy.
#5: James: How can we get peace in the Middle East?
Nadia: "By Shahar Peer playing doubles with Sania Mirza."
James: That'll do it.
Nadia: (smiles) "Exactly."
#6: James: You've won nearly $6 million in prize money. Spare any change?
Nadia: "First you all, you should take the taxes out, and all the expenses out, and maybe you come to half."
James: And then can I have like a buck or two, or..?
Nadia: "Why don't we go for coffee?"
I forgot my last question.
