I am not a tennis expert and play very rarely but I recently went to my little brother’s tournament and was so impressed with the level of play. At the tournament I was talking with another kid’s parent and he was telling me about the academy both his daughter and my brother attended. It’s in Irvine, CA and their goal is to make Southern California the new hot spot for breeding great tennis players. Being a local to Orange County I was stoked to hear that world class tennis would be just down the coast.
My brother has been going to the academy for a year or so now and I can’t even keep up with him! I can’t wait to see him in action again. Not to brag… but he won his first match 7-3, 7-2, 7-4. If anyone wants to play tennis by the beach in beautiful weather 24-7, check out advantagetennisacademy.com so I can watch my little bro embarrass you!
Befor anyone call me out for being a novice tennis fan... my little bro won 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
Looks like an interest academy. The coaches are unfamiliar to me but all they need is one kid to break through and their phone will be ringing off the hook.
Michael McClune was called to Dubai earlier this year to practice with Roger Federer as soon as Roger was cleared from mono. Great experience for McClune who I think is playing for Santa Clara college. Nick Fustar travelled with McClune to Dubai and wrote a blog from there about the practice sessions.
Once upon a time there was another tennis facility that produced some fabulous American players: The Kramer Club in Palos Verdes. That centered produced the likes of Tracy Austin, Lindsay Davenport, Melissa Gurney, Nicole London and Pete Sampras. Not too shabby.
