    DISAPPOINTED IN COVERAGE

My husband and I look forward to The Championships at Wimbledon every year.

We're working folks and during the work-week, get home around 5:30 pm PST and watch what we can from then til bedtime.

I do not know what kind of coverage is shown during the daytime hours, but, I must say, we are quite disappointed in the coverage we've seen during the above-mentioned time-frame.

As tennis fans, we want to see tennis.  In just about every match we've seen, we rarely see a whole match.  Someone at the Tennis Channel determines which sets we'll see and for how long.  They will show portions of each set, but not every game of every set.  I long for the days when HBO had the contract for televising Wimbledon coverage.

I was watching the 5 set match yesterday between Ancic and Verdasco when the 5th set was tied at 8 games to 8, I blinked and it was 11 games to 11.  We want to see EVERYTHING!

To make matters worse, a match is interrupted for some mundane interview with one of the players or the incessant advertising of The Tennis Channel itself.  As the only coverage of Wimbledon during the week, you don't have to sell it to us.  Just show us some tennis!

Another annoying issue....the crawling results at the bottom of the screen when you're watching a match.  You have to turn your head away so you don't see who won, so you can enjoy the match when it is televised.  PLEASE TAKE THIS OFF THE SCREEN!

WE WANT TO SEE TENNIS AND WHOLE MATCHES!  We don't care if we watch unseeded players play each other, we just want to see tennis!

We can understanding outside advertisers showing commercials between games and sets, but give me a break.

Two disillusioned fans of The Tennis Channel.  If we had an alternative, we'd change the channel or wait for the weekend for that glorious network television.

Sharon. There's something you need to understand. The Tennis you are watching at night is a highlight show. The live coverage is on espn and nbc with the TC doing a nightly 4 hour show. From what i understand, they are not allowed to show full matches. They are allowed to show the best tennis they can in a 4 hour time slot. That's why you are seeing condensed matches and other scores on the bottom. When you watch an espn highlight show you see this all the time. They cant show 20 hours of tennis in 4 hours. Id rather see the day's best rather than 1 whole match for 3-4 hours. With all the rights issues in place it is difficult for one network to show every match. It's impossible. Especially during majors. If you want to see the live coverage and you work like most of us, i would record it.

I agree with Sharon. Even in the morning its the same problem. Im online watching the live scoring at Wimbledon and while they are playing the Tennis Channel is doing some boring interview or talking while I miss the points being played. Talk in the background while the match is on.

Sharon is totally right. There must be some cost to covering the matches that the fans and subscribers to the Tennis channel want to see and the Tennis channel does not wish to pay for that coverage. They would rather show something that the subscribers have no interest in and make a few dollars more.

Another example was Moya and Murray's match at Cincinati which was being aired live and was cut off right before the match was finished after the 2nd set. We all just kinda guessed who won the match cause Moya was being dominated by Murray at the start of the 2nd set. It is very frustrating to be cut off in the middle of a great match and  wondering what the heck happened. Hey guys, come on! As viewers we have the right to get what we pay for.

I agree with everyone who's disappointed in the coverage.  I've only had Tennis Channel since the beginning of this year and it's really been a let down.  I was expecting to see tournaments I'd never seen before and they were no where to be found.  I'm switching cable providers next week and they don't have Tennis Channel and I simply couldn't care less.  I've had enough of it in the eight months.  What a huge waste of money it's been.
