Sharon. There's something you need to understand. The Tennis you are watching at night is a highlight show. The live coverage is on espn and nbc with the TC doing a nightly 4 hour show. From what i understand, they are not allowed to show full matches. They are allowed to show the best tennis they can in a 4 hour time slot. That's why you are seeing condensed matches and other scores on the bottom. When you watch an espn highlight show you see this all the time. They cant show 20 hours of tennis in 4 hours. Id rather see the day's best rather than 1 whole match for 3-4 hours. With all the rights issues in place it is difficult for one network to show every match. It's impossible. Especially during majors. If you want to see the live coverage and you work like most of us, i would record it.
Sharon is totally right. There must be some cost to covering the matches that the fans and subscribers to the Tennis channel want to see and the Tennis channel does not wish to pay for that coverage. They would rather show something that the subscribers have no interest in and make a few dollars more.
Another example was Moya and Murray's match at Cincinati which was being aired live and was cut off right before the match was finished after the 2nd set. We all just kinda guessed who won the match cause Moya was being dominated by Murray at the start of the 2nd set. It is very frustrating to be cut off in the middle of a great match and wondering what the heck happened. Hey guys, come on! As viewers we have the right to get what we pay for.
I agree with everyone who's disappointed in the coverage. I've only had Tennis Channel since the beginning of this year and it's really been a let down. I was expecting to see tournaments I'd never seen before and they were no where to be found. I'm switching cable providers next week and they don't have Tennis Channel and I simply couldn't care less. I've had enough of it in the eight months. What a huge waste of money it's been.
