    Justin Gimelstob

Please get rid of Justin Gimelstob.  His commentating is so annoying, he only says things that are obvious even to a new tennis fan like myself. I love all the other commentators, they are really informative and they don't talk during play as much... also, he constantly talks about himself and we don't care about his life... when we are watching a match. Get rid of Justin Gimelstob!!!! Please, or I may watch with no volume, which sucks!!!!

I completely disagree.  Gimelstob is hysterical and I know for a fact the players in the lockeroom agree. I know that doesn't necessarily speak to your point but I feel the need to get my boys back.  The guy can make fun of and laugh at himself better than anybody and you've got to respect that.  It's also interesting at times to hear the point-of-view of a guy who hung around the tour for 15 years and never cracked the top 50 in singles and did for just a short time in doubles.  Lay off Gimelstob, the guys got heart!!!!!

i couldn't agree more. get rid of him. even my 10 year old daughter commented the other day 'i thought you told me it was rude to talk while a point was being played.'
apparently justin never learned this either. his drivel, which he thinks is banter, is annoying and doesn't add anything to the broadcast. it's getting to the point that i watch tennis with the sound turned off on espn thanks to pam shriver, mary joe fernandez and patrick mcenroe.
now i'm doing the same at tennis channel whenever justin is on. please get rid of him and stop hiring journeyman tennis players as so called color comentators.
when you do hire them, have them watch the old hbo telecasts of wimbledon with the bbc commentaries. perhaps they'll learn that we not only don't want to hear them babble all the time, there is no need. the beauty of the game speaks for itself.

I couldn't agree more with your daughter, she hit the nail on the head. All ESPN commentators have set a very poor example for the TC commentators, constantly talking while points are in play turns me off as much as turning the sound off. Anyway, thanks for your comment but I doubt this will ever end because in the long run, the commentators always get in the last word.

You guys are insane.  Justin is the BEST thing going for tennis commentary right now...He and McEnroe are easily the two best on television.  Justin has the insight from the tour.  He gains access to all the players who all enjoy his humor.  Did you see him on Leno reporting from the US Open?  Or after he lost to Roddick in his final Open appearance? (he takes the mike and interviews Andy right on the court - the fans went crazy!)  His timing is perfect and he adds the "insider's" point of view.  Something Bill Macatee can't provide although I think he is great too.

Give it time.  Justin will grow on you.

I agree.  I don't understand why Justin  talks the whole match.  He never stops.  Yes, I want to hear a few facts once in awhile, but he just never stops.  He insults tennis fans knowledge by stating the obvious over & over again.  Please, I like to hear the crowd & players, but I have been muting all the matches because of Justin, & that's not fair to me & my family. We all love tennis.  My hubby now won't even watch.

ps.  to all tennis fans - hi everyone.  Yippee!! tennis is on!!

I agree with you.  Justin makes watching fun!  The guy has a terrific sense of humor.  Now I know how serious the game is, but come on lets smile a little.  Just relax and try to enjoy him.  I loved the interview with Roddick.  Did you see him ask Sharapova out?  Good stuff.

PLEASE GET RID OF GIMELSTOB.   HIS COMMENTS ARE JUST LIKE HIS TENNIS GAME.

LOUSEY,  HE SUCKS.  HE NEVER COULD PLAY TENNIS, HOW CAN HE COMMENT ON OTHER PLAYERS GAME?

He is one of the worst commentators ever...what blubbering idiot put him on tv? ...and continues to keep him on? He is completely biased and unprofessional...his comments during Davis Cup make his so-called buddy Roddick sound like even more of a cocky ass. And during Sony Ericson he said that Davydenko deserved having all the suspicion; what happened to innocent until proven guilty? If I have to hear about the Bryan bros having an extra 9 mos on the competition one more time...barf. What a loser; why would I want to listen to him commentate?

Just because Justin didn't play so great doesn't mean a thing. He is funny and so what if he talks a lot, would you rather have someone who doesn't talk at all and who monotone and boring. Come on he brings life to the game. He's awesome!

This guy is a real man….he has to threaten to hit a girl and call her names before he plays her. He has to hurt her for a measurement of success. Wow, what a world class player….fine example for juniors.

This boorish, poor excuse for a broadcaster was a medicore tennis player at best. His lack of talent as a tennis player is exceeded only by his miserable stupidness as a broadcaster.

This guy’s IQ is in the room temp range. Maybe 75. What a cretin. Surely you folks at the Tennis Channel can find some way to get this guy off the airwaves.   I'd be afraid to have a rogue imbecile like this on live TV.

Tennis does not need people like this. I am very angry that someone like him is associated with tennis in any shape, form or fashion.    No more Tennis Channel for me until this creep is gone, gone, gone.

    Re: Justin Gimelstob

the major point of this post is to make clear the message that the Tennis Channel relays to the public as to their operations.  First, by hiring unqualified people they are showing the biggest reflection of themselves.  You know that old saying "tell me who your with, and I'll tell you who you are" this is the perfect example.  Maybe the executives who think they run a company pretty good aren't as clever as they think they are.  If they hired him in the first place the apple probably doesn't fall far from the tree.  Secondly, Now they send the best message of all by saying your mistakes are justified if you "DONATE MONEY".  I think it's a good example to the people that sh*t everythings ok as long as you pay the proper people.  Sure make derrogatory comments, it doesn't matter as long as you have enough cash to fork it over.  Lastly, if you notice how much more men's coverage they provide then women's.  Certainly the opinions are not just reflected by Gimelstob but by the entire Tennis Channel Network.  If tennis is to start gaining respect they must take a stand when people act in this manner.

It is time for Justin to go and join Howard Stern. This is the show were he belongs.

Justin, please join Howard Stern, so we all can watch tennis again.
