   All I can say is I did not become a tennis fan until I first saw Rafa on tv 3 years ago. I was hooked! Had I seen Federer instead, I don't think I'd be watching now. Rafa has character, charm, maleness, srength, focus, fortitude, and a great smile! Roger is tops now...but if Rafa takes the top spot, watch out tennis world!

   roger is the best. even if federer loses #1 position to nadal in 2008, he will still be the best because i don't think nadal, djokovich, roddick or any other of the players would ever be able to maintain a #1 ranking for 4 years straight. that is what seperates a great player from the rest of the field. sampras did it for so many years. i think these other guys will be #1 for a few weeks or maybe a few months but they will never be a #1 for the amount of years federer has maintained it or sampras. think of the pressure that must involve to stay #1 for years. nadal is a terrific player but i just don't see him being #1 for any great length of time. and although federer has lost some of his dominance of late, most recent losing to gonzalez in opening round of shanghai, just think that federer still ended #1 again for the 4th straight year. that is an incredible feat. most people, including myself sometimes, think about the losses federer has had of late, but the guy still has busted his butt to stay #1 for so long and i see no other player doing that. thats what makes a sampras and a federer "unique & special" in comparison to all other players. i respect roddick for his consistency in maintaing a top 10 player for years but he still didn't stay #1 the way federer has. maybe its time for federer to lose his #1 ranking, but none of these other guys, in my opinion, will come close to breaking the records federer has broken. so, to me, federer is the best player, losses et al.
