More US Open Blogs: Mardy FishJames LaRosa l Steve Flink

Hello and thank you for reading my blog from the US Open. I got into town on Friday after driving from New Haven. The traffic was awful and it took us forever to get here. We checked into our hotel and drove to the courts for a bit of practice and again ran into so much New York rush hour traffic.

Once on site though, I was able to get some good practice in with Ai Sugiyama. Traffic back to the hotel was much smoother and that evening, my mom and I took a walk around New York. We just did some window shopping - planning what I might want to buy once I get my check from this tournament.
Me and my doubles partner
Me and my doubles partner, Anna Chakvetadze talk strategy.

The next day I got up and hung out with my friend and doubles partner Anna Chakvetadze. We practiced together and ate before heading back to the hotel.

The next day, my mom and I went out to the courts for some early practice and we stuck around to watch a few first round matches. I'll watch both men's and women's matches. While on site, I took the opportunity to meet with the doctor just for a routine check of my knee - happy to report that is no problem there.

We ordered room service back at the hotel - Chinese food - and then we watched some movies on TV. I was first on yesterday, so I went to sleep by 10:30pm.

I was happy to advance past my first round opponent Emmanuelle Gagliardi. I had played her once earlier this year, so I was somewhat familiar with her game.

Next up is Dominika Cibulkova - wish me luck.

Also, if you're coming tomorrow, Anna and I will be out on Court 16 playing our first round doubles match - come cheer us on!
