Job Description for Assistant Editor

Tennis Channel ( is the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to both the professional sport and tennis lifestyle. A hybrid of comprehensive sports, health, fitness, pop culture, entertainment, lifestyle and travel programming, the network is home to every aspect of the wide-ranging, worldwide tennis community. It also has the most concentrated single-sport coverage in television, with telecast rights to the US Open, Wimbledon, Roland Garros (French Open), Australian Open, Olympus US Open Series, ATP Masters Series, top-tier Sony Ericsson WTA Tour championship competitions, Davis Cup and Fed Cup by BNP Paribas, and Hyundai Hopman Cup. Tennis Channel is carried by nine of the top 10 MSOs, Verizon FiOS TV, and has a national footprint via DIRECTV and DISH Network.

Tennis Channel is seeking a full-time staff Assistant Editor to support the On-Air Creative/Promos Department. Candidate must be able to work evening shifts Monday-Thursday and a swing shift on Friday. Some weekends may also be required.

-Manage disk space, file structure, workflow and delivery of projects on departmental XSAN
-Keep track of digital media, ensuring it is stored, used, media managed and archived correctly
-Prepare and maintain numerous projects from start to finish including gathering elements and digitizing video
-Outputting to a variety of formats: HDCam, Beta SX, QT, DVD, Flash, WMV
-Work with IT department to oversee and troubleshoot edit facilities (Macs, video cards, and tape decks) for freelance editors
-Maintain online digital footage library
-Complete requests for outside departments and clients (DVD projects, FTP Uploads, etc)

-Minimum 1 year work related experience
-Must have strong understanding of Mac OS
-Must have strong understanding of XSAN environment
-Must be proficient using Final Cut Pro 6+ and DVD Studio Pro
-Must have knowledge of AJA Kona Video Cards and Sony video decks of various formats (HDCam, Beta SP, Digibeta)
-Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
-Knowledge of tapeless post-production workflows a plus
-After Effects experience a plus
-Knowledge of tennis (Rules, Players, Tournaments) a plus
