LOS ANGELES, August 9, 2006 —
Grand Prize is a Trip to Sony Ericsson WTA Tour’s 2007 Acura Classic near San Diego
The Tennis Channel, the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to tennis and the healthy, active lifestyle that surrounds it, is celebrating the excitement of the 2006 US Open Series this summer with the online “Acura Classic Sweepstakes.” Participants can enter the contest on the network’s Web site, www.TheTennisChannel.com.
As grand prize, the channel is offering a trip to the 2007 Acura Classic in Las Costa, Calif., near San Diego, including round-trip airfare to the two nights stay at the famed La Costa Resort and Spa, and two VIP seats to the women’s tournament. The sweepstakes, in effect now through the conclusion of the US Open on Sunday, Sept. 10, supports the “The Greatest Road Trip in Sports” campaign introduced this year by the USTA, the governing body for tennis in the United States. “The Greatest Road Trip in Sports” features top-ranked players competing in the US Open Series across America this summer, culminating with the August US Open, the largest annually attended sporting event in the world. Information and entries for the sweepstakes can be found at www.TheTennisChannel.com.
“We’re excited to offer television and Web viewers this unique opportunity to be a VIP at one of the finest tournaments in the world,” said Faye Walker, vice president, marketing, The Tennis Channel. “At the same time, we’re thrilled to introduce our latest sweepstakes, and proud to add value to our partner the USTA’s ‘The Greatest Road Trip in Sports’ campaign.”
The Tennis Channel is supporting the “Acura Classic Sweepstakes” with extensive on-air exposure. It is the third such campaign by the network this year, each of which has focused on one of tennis’ four major competitions, the Grand Slams. In January the channel introduced “Aussie Mania,” an Australian tennis-themed promotional and programming campaign timed to coincide with the 2006 Australian Open, and in which the winner received a trip to the 2007 event. “Bonjour Tour,” a similar promotion, coincided with May’s French Open, and awarded a trip to the 2007 tournament in Paris.
Tennis Channel ( www.TheTennisChannel.com ) is the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to tennis and the healthy, active lifestyle that surrounds it, and forges the personal connection between the professionals on the court and the game’s millions of aficionados. The home for people who watch, play and live their passions through tennis, the network is a hybrid of comprehensive sports coverage, health and fitness programming, pop culture and entertainment access, and lifestyle and travel information. The Tennis Channel is the most concentrated single-sport network in television, with telecast rights to the US Open Series, ATP Masters Series, top-tier Sony Ericsson WTA Tour championship competitions, Davis Cup by BNP Paribas, Fed Cup and Hyundai Hopman Cup, the combination of which offer the compelling, ongoing story of the game’s most dramatic rivalries, energetic personalities and emotional, yearlong journey.
